Christ Church is the mother church of the Diocese of Atlanta, and the oldest congregation of any denomination in Macon, Georgia.  Founded in 1825, the present worship facility was constructed in 1850.  Originally a part of the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia, the Diocese of Atlanta, of which Christ Church is a member, was organized in the parish church in 1907.

Sunday Worship Services

On Sundays they offer three services with the celebration of the Holy Eucharistic as the focal point of each.  Our 8:00 a.m. service has a dedicated following of parishioners who enjoy the first version of the priest's sermon.  A quiet celebration, the 8:00 a.m. service has no music and is a “Spoken Eucharist”.   

The 9:00 a.m. service is often referred to as the “Family Service”.  This service offers a child-friendly sermon geared for the younger congregates.  Children are encouraged to participate in communion with their parents if desired.    

The 11:00 a.m. service is traditional and more formal than our other offerings.  This service is referred to as the “Choral Eucharist”.  The procession of choir, acolytes, vergers, clergy and other lay leaders sets the tone for this Eucharistic Celebration.
